In a heartwarming turn of events, 30-year-old Ashley Macholz and her fiancé, Bryan Lewis, found themselves embarking on a journey they never could have anticipated. The couple, engaged in 2023 and planning a wedding for 2026, received devastating news that would change their lives forever.
After experiencing unusual symptoms starting in April, including hearing difficulties and ear issues, Macholz went to an urgent care center where she was initially diagnosed with a dysfunctional eustachian tube. However, as time passed, her symptoms worsened, leading to a fateful visit to the ER on September 27.
It was during this visit that Macholz received the shocking news that she had a brain tumor, requiring urgent surgery scheduled for October 1. In a show of unwavering support and love, Lewis proposed that they get married before her surgery, to legally bind themselves and share a special moment with family and friends.
With less than three days to plan, their loved ones sprang into action, turning the hospital into an impromptu wedding venue. Macholz’s sisters, Zoë and Shelbi, went above and beyond to make the day special, from finding a wedding dress to arranging flowers and photography.
