ABC has officially greenlit a new spinoff from the popular TV series ‘9-1-1,’ which will be set in Nashville. The new series, titled ‘9-1-1: Nashville,’ is scheduled to premiere during the 2025-26 TV season. This spinoff will mark the third installment of the ‘9-1-1’ franchise, following the success of ‘9-1-1’ and ‘9-1-1: Lone Star.’ The decision to skip the pilot phase and proceed straight to production for the first season was reported by Deadline on Thursday, February 20.

The creators of the franchise, Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear, are spearheading the development of ‘9-1-1: Nashville,’ along with showrunner Rashad Raisani. Additionally, Brad Falchuk and Angela Bassett, who were involved in the first two ‘9-1-1’ series, will serve as executive producers for the new spinoff. The enthusiasm for the series in Nashville is evident, with Bob Rains, executive director of the Tennessee Entertainment Commission, expressing his excitement about having the show set in the city.
According to Rains, the production team found Nashville to be the perfect location for the spinoff after the success of ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ in Austin. Initial discussions indicate that principal photography is set to commence in May, offering significant opportunities for workforce development in the community. With the production set to engage numerous vendors in the city, the series is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy and tourism.
Variety had previously reported discussions about a potential spinoff, with Ryan Murphy revealing plans for a new series in October. The shift to Nashville as the setting for the spinoff followed considerations of other locations such as Las Vegas and Hawaii. The decision was influenced by a proposed tax credit offered to the production team. While specific details about the plot and cast of ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ have not been disclosed, fans can anticipate the same dramatic and engaging storytelling as seen in the previous series.
‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ bid farewell after its fifth season was cancelled by FOX in September 2024, while the original ‘9-1-1’ series continues to captivate audiences in its eighth season. Starring Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, and a talented ensemble cast, the show remains a fan favorite. Both ‘9-1-1’ and ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ are currently available for streaming on Hulu, ensuring that viewers can catch up on all the action and drama before the premiere of ‘9-1-1: Nashville.’
As anticipation builds for the latest addition to the ‘9-1-1’ universe, fans can look forward to more thrilling storylines and heroic first responders in the vibrant city of Nashville. With a powerhouse team of creators and producers at the helm, ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ is poised to deliver another compelling chapter in this successful franchise. Stay tuned for further updates as the series gears up for its debut on ABC during the upcoming TV season.
