Maggie Lindemann’s latest album, “I Feel Everything,” has recently been released, and the alt-pop artist opened up about the challenges she faced during its creation. The album, which took over a year to complete, delves into the range of emotions Lindemann experienced throughout the process. Describing the title of the album, Lindemann shared, “I kept talking to my family and my friends about the situations I was in, and I kept saying, ‘Dude, I just feel everything. I’m feeling so much.'”
Starting the writing process for “I Feel Everything” in March 2024, around the time her Headsplit EP was launched, Lindemann was in a relationship with NBA player Jordan Clarkson. She aimed to incorporate more electronic and pop elements into her alternative sound, evident in tracks like “One of the Ones,” the album’s lead single. Lindemann, as an independent artist, highlighted the freedom she enjoys in shaping her music without the constraints of a major record label.

However, amidst the progress on the album, Lindemann faced a personal setback when she and Clarkson parted ways around Valentine’s Day. This led to an extension of her time in the studio as she poured her emotions into the music. Reflecting on the breakup, Lindemann shared, “Obviously, I had some stuff to say. If you hear the songs that came before the breakup versus after, I knew it was coming.”

The breakup served as inspiration for tracks like “Evil,” where Lindemann explores themes of love, betrayal, and self-discovery. Through her lyrics, she conveys the struggle of acknowledging both the good and bad in a partner, even in the face of hurt and deception. The songwriting process allowed Lindemann to tap into her suppressed anger and confront the reality of toxic relationships.
Notably, the album cover for “I Feel Everything” features Lindemann lying on a bed of nails, symbolising the pain and vulnerability that come with love. Describing the profound meaning behind the image, Lindemann explained, “I am putting myself on this bed of nails to feel pain, to be stuck when I could literally just stand up and walk away.” The physical discomfort experienced during the photoshoot underscored the depth of emotion Lindemann poured into the project.
“I Feel Everything” encompasses a variety of musical styles, ranging from energetic dance beats to poignant collaborations with artists like The Warning and Julia Wolf. Lindemann’s exploration of different sounds and themes demonstrates her artistic growth and willingness to experiment with her music. Despite the album’s darker undertones, Lindemann emphasises that the process was also about embracing joy and having fun in her creative expression.
In conclusion, Maggie Lindemann’s journey in creating “I Feel Everything” is a testament to her resilience and artistic evolution. Through personal challenges and emotional upheavals, Lindemann has crafted an album that encapsulates the complexities of human emotions. Her willingness to lay bare her experiences, both painful and uplifting, shines through in the raw honesty of her music, resonating with listeners on a profound level.
