In an adorable and heartwarming incident in New York City, a woman faced quite the challenge when her 70-lb. goldendoodle, Archie, refused to walk due to a cut on his paw. Sisian Sadler found herself in a hilarious predicament as she attempted to carry Archie through the bustling streets of NYC. However, the situation took a surprising turn when her husband, Alan, came to her aid, only to witness Archie miraculously walking without any issues.

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Sisian shared the amusing details of the moment, saying, “He stopped in the middle of the intersection and just laid down in the middle of the crosswalk and just went on his back. I was like, this is bad because he let me carry him and he doesn’t like being carried.” Despite the challenge, the determined Sisian, standing at just 5 feet tall, embarked on a three-block journey carrying her furry friend in her arms, with well-deserved breaks along the way.

Realizing the task was too demanding, Sisian reached out to Alan for assistance. When Alan arrived, he couldn’t believe what he saw – Archie walking normally after being carried by Sisian. The heartwarming moment was captured in a viral TikTok video that showcased the bond between the Sadler family and their beloved pet, Archie. While the pup seemed to have made a quick recovery, Sisian reassured that Archie was indeed injured but is now doing well.
For Sisian and Alan, Archie is not just a pet but a cherished member of their family. Their journey with Archie began shortly after moving to NYC, with Archie celebrating his fourth birthday recently. Despite his size, compared to Sisian, Archie is smaller than expected, giving the couple many delightful surprises. Sisian reveals, “What’s funny is Archie’s actually the runt of his litter. His dad is a red golden retriever and his mom is a white poodle and we thought we would be getting an 85-lb. dog. So 70 lbs. is actually tiny, but so am I.”
The bond between Sisian and Archie goes beyond the ordinary as she has trained him to be a certified service animal, bringing comfort to others. Describing Archie as “an angel on Earth,” Sisian admires his unique personality, including a touch of stubbornness that surfaced with age. As the Sadlers navigate their roles as newlyweds and dog parents, Sisian encourages others to experience the joy of having a dog, considering it excellent preparation for future parenthood.
While dogs may surprise us with their antics and behaviours, the love and companionship they provide are incomparable. Sisian’s dedication to Archie and his well-being exemplifies the special bond between humans and their pets, showing the lengths we are willing to go for those we hold dear. As Archie continues to brighten their lives with his presence, the Sadler family’s story serves as a reminder of the unconditional love and joy that pets bring into our lives, enriching our days with laughter and companionship.
