The disappearance of Liz Waddell, a 44-year-old physical therapist from North Carolina, has sparked a growing concern as her friends and family continue the search for her after she went missing during a holiday in Grenada. Waddell was last seen at Grand Anse Beach on July 22, and efforts to locate her have intensified in the days since her disappearance.
A close friend, Amanda Romano-Harmon, shared insights about Waddell’s last known activities. According to Romano-Harmon, Waddell was on holiday with a friend and was last observed donning her swimwear before stepping outside their rented accommodation, an Airbnb situated near the beach. This last sighting places her at the beachfront, where it is presumed she may have gone for a swim.

Romano-Harmon stated, “We want to leave no stone unturned,” emphasising the urgency and determination of those searching for Waddell. Their hope is to welcome her home safely, holding on to optimism for a positive resolution to the situation. It is reported that Waddell’s friend had not initially noticed her absence until later in the day, when she ventured outside and discovered the missing woman’s towel left on a pier.
In a bid to gather further information, the Royal Grenada Police Force has issued a public appeal, requesting that local fishermen, boat operators, and residents along the southern coastline report any relevant sightings or information. The authorities are actively involved in the investigation and search efforts, reinforcing the importance of community assistance during this distressing time.
As the investigation continues, the last confirmed sighting of Waddell was captured on surveillance cameras between midday and 1 p.m. local time on the day of her disappearance. Romano-Harmon noted that the footage revealed Waddell swimming and floating in the water before disappearing from view.
At the weekend, Cailen Waddell, Liz’s husband, took to social media, asking for help and sending heartfelt messages as he made his way to Grenada to join the search. “I expect nothing less than Liz’s safe return,” he wrote, urging friends and acquaintances to keep the family in their thoughts and prayers. Cailen has since arrived on the island accompanied by their daughter and Liz’s twin sister to partake in the search efforts.
The local police have been praised for their responsiveness and commitment to finding Waddell, with Cailen expressing gratitude for their communication and support throughout the ongoing investigation. “The police have been wonderful,” he conveyed to the Grenada Broadcasting Network. “They’ve been incredibly communicative and have done everything it seems they could be doing to help find her.”
Waddell is described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build and short blonde hair, as per the police’s missing person directive. Friends and family remain actively engaged in the search, desperate for any information that could lead to her safe return.
As the days pass, the community remains hopeful for news regarding Waddell’s whereabouts. Anyone with information related to her disappearance is urged to contact local authorities or the Royal Grenada Police Force. With the search underway, the urgency to locate Liz Waddell remains paramount for her loved ones, who are holding onto hope in what has become an alarming situation.
Further developments are awaited as the search continues, with both local law enforcement and family members working tirelessly to find the missing therapist.
