Kristianson, 46, from Antioch, Tennessee, worked as a cheer coach at various institutions, including Magic All-Stars and Trabuco Hills High School, where he abused his position of trust to prey on young girls. The abuse reportedly took place between 2002 and 2006, with some victims sharing their traumatic experiences with investigators years later due to fear and embarrassment.
The case gained momentum in 2022 when Kristianson was arrested in Daytona Beach, Florida, for misconduct involving children under his coaching at a cheer club. Subsequently, an Orange County victim came forward after recognising Kristianson from news coverage of his Florida arrest. She revealed that he had begun molesting her when she was just 14 years old and had continued the abuse until she turned 15.
Prosecutors highlighted that Kristianson would lure girls to non-cheer-sanctioned events and his home, where he would carry out his despicable acts. The former coach was arrested in Fargo, North Dakota, in 2023 and extradited to Southern California to face charges related to the Orange County case. Additionally, he was also apprehended in Kansas for indecent exposure during a FaceTime call with teenage girls.
With a possible maximum sentence of 165 years to life in state prison, Kristianson is scheduled to be sentenced on March 19, 2026, at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
