A family of six from Sanford, Florida, faced a harrowing experience when a fire broke out in their home, leading to the loss of all their possessions. However, the father, Mina Raky, considers it a miracle that they all survived the incident. The fire began in the garage where a Tesla was charging on December 2, 2025.

Raky, a school teacher and father of four, recounted the events of that fateful morning when he heard popping noises outside his house around 5 a.m. The absence of noise-canceling headphones allowed him to hear the sounds, prompting him to investigate. This unexpected change in his routine turned out to be a crucial factor in their survival.

Assuming there was an intruder, Raky rushed to the garage to grab his firearm but was met with a cloud of smoke emanating from the charging Tesla. With his initial plan to move the car out of the house thwarted by his wife’s vehicle blocking the way, Raky sprang into action to wake up his family, including his wife and children aged 18, 12, 11, and 8.

As the family evacuated the house, their daughter Lily was momentarily trapped on the second floor due to the spreading fire engulfing the stairs. Unable to reach her through the house, Raky resorted to calling out to her from outside. By some stroke of luck, Lily managed to escape through a window and was safely rescued by first responders, albeit with some minor injuries.

The fire department’s investigation revealed that the fire originated around the Tesla charging station in the garage, with the cause still under scrutiny. Despite the devastation of losing their home and belongings, the family has been overwhelmed by the support and help pouring in from the community, school, and church.

In an effort to rebuild their lives, especially for the children, the family has received assistance through a GoFundMe set up by Lily. The fundraiser aims to gather resources for essential needs and a sense of security that was shattered by the fire. Raky expressed gratitude for the love and care enveloping them during this challenging time.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Raky believes that divine intervention played a significant role in their survival, describing it as “God’s hand surrounding us.” While the trauma of the fire lingers, the family is focusing on creating a sense of normalcy for the children by procuring basic necessities and aiming to restore a feeling of comfort and safety.
