A stunning turn of events unfolded for an unsuspecting Michigan family as their nine-year-old daughter, Tori, was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare condition while recuperating from the flu. Tori’s mother, Ashley Geuther, noticed her daughter was showing signs of improvement after battling the flu, only to be blindsided when Tori suddenly complained of excruciating leg pain, rendering her unable to walk.

This rare condition is characterised by localized muscular pain, predominantly in the calves, following a viral upper respiratory infection.

Despite its rarity, BACM generally resolves within a week and is often attributed to viral infections. In Tori’s case, she fully recovered after a week-long hospital stay, where she received close monitoring, IV fluids, and pain medication. Ashley expressed her shock at the unexpected diagnosis, emphasising that she had never heard of such a complication arising from the flu before, underscoring the scary and unforeseen nature of the situation.
