The alleged perpetrator, Justin Bartley, also 32, the father of the young child, has been charged with the murder of Roseberline Phillippe. Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace revealed that Bartley faces charges of second-degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the tragic event that unfolded at the Days Inn in Elmsford. Following his arrest, Bartley pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment on Friday, Dec. 5.

Bartley, who was already on probation, had a prior criminal record. In 2022, he was found guilty of second-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon and driving while intoxicated in Rockland County. As a result, he was sentenced to five years of probation. These previous offences have now escalated to the severe charge of murdering his ex-girlfriend.

Responding to the harrowing incident, District Attorney Cacace expressed profound sympathy for the family and loved ones of the deceased, emphasizing the tragedy of losing a young woman who was also a new mother with so much life ahead of her. The loss of Roseberline Phillippe has undoubtedly left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
As the legal proceedings continue, Bartley is currently in custody at the Westchester County Jail without the option of bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 6, 2026. In the aftermath of this devastating loss, Phillippe’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses and provide support for her son. Described as a devoted mother, loving daughter, and cherished friend, Roseberline’s memory is treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
