Rapper Curtis Jackson III, famously known as 50 Cent, has come to an agreement to settle a lawsuit accusing him of assault just days before the release of a documentary he produced about Sean “Diddy” Combs. Guadalupe de los Santos initiated a civil complaint against Jackson earlier this year, alleging that he was hit intentionally by someone opening the passenger door of a moving SUV in which Jackson was traveling as he waited at a stoplight. The incident reportedly occurred in Los Angeles in September 2024.

The lawsuit filed by de los Santos sought damages for assault, battery, intentional affliction of emotional distress, and negligence, with the specific amount to be determined at trial. The case was initially filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court by attorney Gloria Allred, but it was later transferred to the United States District Court for the Central District of Florida, following a motion to dismiss by Jackson’s legal team. However, an agreement was reached between de los Santos and Jackson on November 25, just a week before the scheduled release of the documentary produced by Jackson.

The documentary, titled “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” is a four-part series that aims to delve into the life and career of Sean “Diddy” Combs, highlighting his successes as well as the legal troubles he has faced, including federal convictions related to prostitution. Netflix, the platform set to release the documentary, has described it as a narrative that uncovers the intricate layers of Combs’ empire and the controversies that have surrounded his legacy.
Representation for Jackson and Netflix declined to provide comments on the settlement, while attorney Gloria Allred, who represents de los Santos, chose not to elaborate on the matter. With the settlement reached, the focus now shifts to the upcoming premiere of “Sean Combs: The Reckoning” on December 2, which is anticipated to shed light on pivotal moments in Diddy’s life and career.
This legal development adds an extra layer of intrigue to the narrative surrounding 50 Cent, whose creative ventures are now intertwined with legal affairs. As fans await the release of the documentary, the resolution of the assault lawsuit serves as a prelude to the unveiling of a multifaceted portrayal of Sean Combs on screen. The strategic timing of the settlement just before the documentary’s launch further heightens anticipation for the revelations that might unfold in the series.
With tensions eased by the settlement, both parties can now shift their focus back to their respective pursuits. The impact of this legal chapter on the forthcoming documentary remains to be seen, as viewers anticipate a comprehensive exploration of the complexities surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs. As the release date approaches, the audience is poised to engage with a narrative that promises to illuminate the nuances of fame and notoriety in the music industry.
In a statement issued by Netflix, the platform emphasised the documentary’s aim to offer an in-depth look at the enigmatic persona of Sean Combs, presenting a narrative woven with triumphs and controversies. The resolution of the lawsuit between 50 Cent and de los Santos sets the stage for a new chapter in the unfolding story of two prominent figures in the music industry, inviting viewers to witness a revealing portrayal of one of hip hop’s most influential icons.
