Farmworkers hailed as heroes after rescuing children from burning bus

In a heartwarming act of heroism, two farmworkers in Madera County, California, saved the lives of 20 students who were onboard a burning school bus on September 4th. Carlos Perea Romero and Angel Zarco were given recognition by county officials for their quick thinking and bravery during the incident.

The bus, operated by Madera Unified, caught fire near Avenue 8 and Road 23.5 while transporting students to school. Romero and Zarco, who were working on a broken tractor nearby, noticed the blaze and immediately alerted the bus driver to the dangerous situation. The farmworkers acted swiftly to ensure the safety of the children onboard.
Describing the scene, Zarco mentioned that the bus was engulfed in flames within minutes, creating a terrifying situation for the young passengers.
