Mckenna Grace had a surprising moment on the set of the film, “Regretting You,” when she encountered Dave Franco looking like a 17-year-old. The 19-year-old actress shared that she was taken aback when she saw Franco, who is 40, in a wig meant to make him appear younger for flashback scenes. Grace humorously recalled her initial confusion, saying, “I was like, ‘Whose teenage son is on set?’ And they run past me, and I’m like, ‘That’s Dave Franco!’”

The actress described the experience as a “jump scare,” further explaining, “It was like the first version of the wig that he’s still so embarrassed of that you can’t find a photo of it anywhere. He, like, buried this wig — it was ridiculous.” Grace found the situation comical, noting that she still laughs every time she watches those scenes, exclaiming, “Oh my God, it’s them.”

“Regretting You” is based on Colleen Hoover’s novel from 2019 and features Grace in the role of Clara, whose relationship with her mother Morgan, portrayed by Allison Williams, faces challenges following a tragic car accident. The movie delves into themes of loss and family dynamics, with Franco playing Jonah, the widower of Morgan’s sister, and Grace navigating her burgeoning romance with classmate Miller, played by Mason Thames.
During the film’s production, the cast, including Williams, Franco, Grace, and Thames, formed a close bond on set. Williams praised Grace, describing her as easy to work with, smart, talented, sweet, kind, and professional. She emphasised the enjoyable collaborative experience, highlighting Grace’s enthusiasm and genuine interest in their work together.
Despite the emotional depth of the film’s storyline, Williams believes that “Regretting You” will offer viewers a fulfilling viewing experience. She expressed her hopes for the audience, saying, “I know there’s a lot of talk about [how] you’re gonna ugly-cry, but I also want you to know that you’re gonna leave feeling like you’re floating. It’s a movie that feels good to watch.”
