In a shocking turn of events, a Welsh woman and her lover have been convicted of plotting to murder her husband in order to carry on their illicit affair. Michelle Mills and Geraint Berry were both found guilty of conspiracy to murder in Swansea Crown Court, as announced by Dyfed-Powys police on Tuesday, October 21. The prosecution revealed that Mills and Berry had meticulously planned to kill Mills’ husband and make it appear as a suicide.

The ordeal unfolded on September 20, 2024, when Mills called the police to report that her husband, Christopher Mills, had been brutally attacked by two masked assailants who forcibly entered their mobile home. Christopher managed to fend off the attackers, who were later identified as Berry and another individual named Steven Thomas. Berry, aged 46, and Thomas, aged 47, were eventually apprehended after being discovered hiding in nearby undergrowth.

During the arrest of the suspects, law enforcement officers stumbled upon gas masks and a forged suicide note addressed to Mills, purportedly written by her husband. Despite initially denying any knowledge of the attack, it was eventually ascertained that Mills was intricately involved in the conspiracy. Further investigation revealed that Berry and Mills had been romantically involved for approximately three months prior to the orchestrated crime. Text messages exchanged between the pair exposed sinister plans to eliminate Mills’ spouse.
Detective Inspector Sam Gregory from the Dyfed-Powys police force disclosed, “In a short period of time, Berry, encouraged by Mills, became increasingly preoccupied with hostile thoughts about her husband, and the pair had discussed various methods to carry out the murder.” However, Mills downplayed the conversations as mere fantasies that were never meant to be acted upon.
The incriminating text messages also unveiled that two prior attempts to carry out their deadly plan had been abandoned before the fateful September 20 incident. Following the assault on Christopher Mills, Michelle sent a message to Berry instructing him to delete all incriminating communications. Her message read, “Police have been called get away, delete all communications … please on both phones … I love you,” as recounted by the police.
Upon being taken into custody, Mills reportedly acknowledged her culpability by stating, “I’m going to prison for this, aren’t I?” The trio—comprising Mills, Berry, and Thomas—will face sentencing on December 19, following the declaration of their guilt. Detective Inspector Gregory paid tribute to the investigative team for their diligence in amassing evidence that culminated in the convictions. He remarked, “Mills and Barry had devised not one, not two, but three attempts to end Mr. Mills’ life, and I firmly believe they would have continued plotting had they not been apprehended that night. They will now face the repercussions of their actions.”
The riveting court case sheds light on the dark underbelly of betrayal and deceit, underscoring the lengths individuals may go to fulfil their hidden desires. The harrowing story serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of manipulation and treachery within intimate relationships. As the legal proceedings draw to a close, the community awaits the final verdict that will bring justice to the victims and closure to a tumultuous chapter in their lives.
