Following the disappearance of two teenagers, one teenager has been located safely, while the other remains missing. The missing girl, Alexis Hartley Fuller, aged 17, disappeared in Des Moines on July 12, along with a 14-year-old boy named Zayden. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported that Alexis was last seen at the 900 block of S.W. Porter Ave. On the day they disappeared, both teens were without their prescribed medications, raising concerns about their well-being.

Authorities have intensified efforts to locate Alexis, emphasizing that she may be in need of medical attention. Although both teenagers were deemed to be “voluntarily absent,” the absence of their prescribed medications has heightened the urgency of the search. The boy, Zayden, was found safe after the initial disappearance, but Alexis remains missing, sparking fears for her safety as more than two months have passed since her last sighting.

Sgt. Paul Parizek, the Public Information Officer at the Des Moines Police Department, highlighted the uniqueness of this case in comparison to other juvenile runaway cases they typically handle. Despite being voluntarily absent, the teens’ dependency on medication and potential plans to travel far from Des Moines have deepened concerns. The community has been urged to come forward with any information that could aid in locating Alexis and ensuring her safe return.
The active investigation into Alexis’ disappearance continues, with detectives diligently following leads to uncover her whereabouts. Sgt. Parizek expressed concerns about the vulnerability of young individuals like Alexis, particularly in the absence of necessary resources to support themselves. Additionally, some family members believed to have pertinent information have been uncooperative, hindering the investigation process.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, in collaboration with GSTV, will broadcast Alexis’ missing persons poster on gas station screens across Iowa throughout October, in a bid to reach a wider audience and gather potential leads. This proactive approach aims to keep Alexis at the forefront of public awareness, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in reuniting her with her family.
John Fuller, Alexis’ father, expressed deep concern for his daughter’s well-being and emphasised the family’s longing for her safe return. Described as 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 140 lbs., with blue eyes and blonde hair, Alexis may go by the name Lexi and could be staying in local or surrounding areas. Concerned individuals are encouraged to contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children or the Des Moines Police Department with any relevant information.
As the search for Alexis Fuller continues, the community’s support and engagement play a vital role in ensuring her safety and eventual reunion with her family. The collaborative efforts of law enforcement, media platforms, and concerned citizens underscore the determination to bring Alexis home and provide closure to her loved ones amidst this challenging ordeal.
