A new hurricane named Humberto has recently formed in the Atlantic Ocean and is making its way towards becoming a major hurricane by Saturday, September 27th. The storm began gaining strength on Friday, September 26th, according to reports from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami. Located about 450 miles northeast of the northern Leeward Islands, Hurricane Humberto is currently packing maximum sustained wind speeds of around 90 mph and is moving northwestward at a pace of just under 5 mph.

Forecasters are closely monitoring Humberto’s trajectory, with expectations for the hurricane to intensify into a major storm within the next 24 to 48 hours. Concurrently, another weather system, currently designated as AL94, is on the verge of developing into a tropical storm even closer to the U.S. than Humberto. This system is located just north of eastern Cuba and is edging northwestward.
As AL94 progresses, it is bringing heavy rain and gusty winds to regions including eastern Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Turks and Caicos, and the southeastern Bahamas. With the potential to escalate further into Tropical Storm Imelda within the following two days, AL94 poses a looming threat to the southeastern parts of the United States. However, the National Hurricane Center has expressed uncertainties regarding the exact path that the storm will take.
