Glen Powell, the 36-year-old actor, shared some amusing anecdotes about his parents, Cyndy Powell and Glen Powell Sr., making a cameo appearance in the new Hulu series “Chad Powers.” At the premiere of the show on September 25, Glen jokingly remarked that his parents have become regulars in his projects over the years, almost expecting a spot in them now. He chuckled, stating that they might just be the “greatest beneficiaries of nepotism” Hollywood has ever seen. Glen expressed his joy in having his family and friends on set, transforming the work environment into a more enjoyable experience for him.

The Powells were present at the Los Angeles premiere to support their son, donning Chad Powers jerseys as they mingled with the cast. The upcoming sports comedy, set to premiere on September 30, features Glen portraying a disgraced college quarterback named “Chad Powers” as he embarks on a journey to revive his career. Glen disclosed during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that his father makes a cameo as an Ole Miss coach, while his mother portrays a character dubbed the “moaning woman” who mysteriously visits the hospital.
Despite lacking formal acting backgrounds – with Glen Sr. having a past in executive coaching and Cyndy being a stay-at-home parent – the Powells have become familiar faces in Glen’s projects. In a 2016 interview with Interview Magazine, Glen mentioned his mother’s enthusiasm for being on set, with her often playfully inquiring about her role in his movies. Cyndy’s acting credits span from being an adult spy in Spy Kids 3 to a lunch lady in Everybody Wants Some!! and a professor at a party in Jack & Bobby. Glen Sr. has also made appearances alongside Cyndy, such as in the 2022 film Devotion.
Reflecting on his parents’ performances, Glen shared a humorous anecdote from the set of his 2023 rom-com “Anyone But You,” where they portrayed airline passengers. He recounted his father’s method acting approach of falling asleep during scenes and his mother’s memorable “When Harry Met Sally” moment. Their involvement on set has only grown over the years, with the pair even participating in a rodeo scene for Glen’s 2024 movie “Twisters.”
As Chad Powers gears up for its Hulu premiere on September 30, Glen’s narrative of incorporating his parents into his projects adds a personal touch to his professional endeavours. The Powells’ lighthearted contributions not only showcase their willingness to support their son but also highlight the familial bond that resonates within the entertainment industry. Glen’s playful banter about his parents’ on-screen antics injects a sense of warmth and humour into the otherwise demanding world of show business.
