Actor Mike Heslin tragically passed away after the staff at a restaurant failed to intervene and perform lifesaving acts when he collapsed, according to a recent complaint. Heslin, known for his roles in projects like the TV series “Lioness” and the movie “The Holiday Proposal Plan,” died at the young age of 30 on July 2, 2024, after suffering an unexpected cardiac event, as confirmed by his husband, Scotty Dynamo.

Scotty Dynamo, who is the special administrator of Heslin’s estate, filed a complaint against Javier’s restaurant, the Aria Resort & Casino, and MGM Resort International, alleging that staff at the establishment played a role in his husband’s tragic death. The incident occurred in late June 2024 at Javier’s restaurant in Aria Resort & Casino, Las Vegas. The complaint, obtained by PEOPLE, stated that the restaurant and resort employees did not provide adequate assistance to treat Heslin during the medical emergency.

The complaint further detailed how despite friends calling for help and making efforts to lay Heslin on the floor for aid, the restaurant and resort employees allegedly failed to take immediate lifesaving actions. Among the accusations were claims that CPR was not performed, and an automated external defibrillator (AED) was not used. It was alleged that the staff either did not have adequate emergency response equipment readily available or were not trained on its location.
According to the complaint, a woman at the scene attempted CPR on Heslin, but an employee forcibly removed her from the situation. The complaint asserted that the failures of the staff directly led to Heslin’s untimely death, which the complainant described as a preventable tragedy. Scotty Dynamo is pursuing legal action on five counts in the lawsuit, seeking damages exceeding $15,000, funeral expenses, loss of consortium, punitive damages, attorney’s fees, and other relief deemed appropriate by the court.
In response to the allegations, MGM Resorts, the operator of Aria, did not provide an immediate comment when approached by PEOPLE for a statement. Orlando De Castroverde from De Castroverde Law Group, representing Dynamo in the complaint, emphasised the commitment to seeking accountability for Heslin’s death. De Castroverde condemned the staff and management of Aria, MGM International, and Javier’s, citing a systemic failure leading to the tragic outcome.
The complaint was made following a heartfelt tribute paid by Scotty Dynamo to his late husband on social media. In the tribute, Dynamo described Heslin as brilliant, selfless, and talented, highlighting their plans to start a family shortly before Heslin’s passing. The incident and subsequent legal action serve as a reminder of the importance of having proper emergency response protocols in place, especially in public establishments where prompt intervention can make a life-saving difference.
The tragic loss of Mike Heslin has sparked a legal challenge aimed at ensuring accountability and preventing similar incidents. The lawsuit highlights the need for stringent emergency response training and equipment availability in public spaces to prevent avoidable tragedies. As the case unfolds, it underscores the significance of timely intervention in medical emergencies and the impact of negligence in such critical situations. The pursuit of justice in this matter serves as a beacon for ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in similar circumstances.
