Authorities have identified the body of an 18-year-old woman discovered floating in a canal after being ejected from a motorcycle. Angelina Plasencia has been named as the victim by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office following the tragic incident that also injured three other individuals.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office revealed that the grim discovery was made around 11:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, Sept. 14, when deputies responded to a missing person report concerning Plasencia near NW 72 Avenue and NW 58 Street. Despite initial searches by the MDSO Missing Persons Unit detectives, she could not be located.
The following morning, on Monday, Sept. 15, detectives returned to the scene for further investigation and spotted what appeared to be a body floating in a nearby canal. Subsequently, MDSO divers were called in to retrieve the body as the investigation unfolded.
Authorities disclosed that several individuals in a vehicle had been part of a prior accident at NW 74 Avenue and NW 58 Street. According to the sheriff’s office, one occupant checked on the driver of the other vehicle, while the remaining passengers fled the scene in the vehicle. This same vehicle was then later involved in a second crash on the Northbound ramp of SR 826 at NW 58 Street, culminating in the occupants abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot. They then arranged for pickup by a friend riding a motorcycle.
Shortly after the pickup, a tragic incident occurred at NW 72 Avenue and NW 58 Street involving the motorcycle, resulting in the ejection of all four occupants. Emergency services swiftly responded, transporting a male and two females in critical condition to a local hospital. Tragically, the missing person report filed earlier was linked to the deceased 18-year-old, Ms. Angelina Plasencia.
