Paris Jackson Takes a Stand Against Michael Jackson Biopic

Paris Jackson, daughter of the late Michael Jackson, has made a firm statement distancing herself from an upcoming biopic about her father. The 27-year-old star expressed her views in a series of Instagram Stories, asserting her lack of involvement in the project. She noted that after providing feedback on an early script draft that she found dishonest, she decided to move on from the project. Paris emphasised that she was not part of the movie’s production process and chose to disengage from it entirely, stating, “not my monkeys, not my circus.”

The biopic, produced by Michael Jackson estate co-executors John Branca and John McClain, features Paris’ cousin Jaafar Jackson, 29, portraying the iconic pop star. Despite Jaafar’s involvement, Paris clarified that she had no role in the production, firmly stating her stance on the matter. She highlighted her concerns about the film’s portrayal of her father, criticising what she perceives as a narrative that caters to a specific part of Michael’s fan base that she believes lives in a fantasy world.

In her Instagram videos, Paris addressed her interactions with actor Colman Domingo, who is part of the biopic cast, and debunked any misconceptions regarding her involvement in the film. While acknowledging her brother Prince’s support for the project as a producer, Paris underscored her principled stand against what she views as inaccuracies and misrepresentations in Hollywood biopics. She expressed disappointment in the tendency to present a sugar-coated, fictionalised version of real-life stories for commercial gain.

Paris also responded to speculations about her relationship with her father, debunking claims that she harbours resentment towards him. She emphasised her preference for honesty over sensationalism, reiterating her desire to distance herself from a project that she perceives as lacking authenticity.
