Eli Manning’s Daughters Excited Over Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Engagement
Eli Manning, the retired NFL star, recently shared an exclusive insight with PEOPLE about his daughters’ enthusiastic reaction to the engagement news of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Manning revealed that his three daughters were thrilled about the romantic garden proposal between the pop superstar and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end on Tuesday, August 26.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Manning disclosed, “My three girls were very excited about it. Like, all of a sudden my phone just started ringing with FaceTimes and all of them texting and like, ‘Call me. Dad, call me.’ So they were very excited to tell me about the news yesterday.” Manning humorously added that his daughters even assumed they would be invited to the wedding, but he quickly clarified that it was just a joke and they wouldn’t actually be on the guest list.
Manning and his wife, Abby McGrew, have four children together: Ava, 14, Lucy, 12, Caroline, 10, and son Charlie, 7. The former New York Giants legend expressed his happiness for Travis and Taylor, stating, “Happy for Travis and Taylor, and their engagement. It’s been fun to watch their journey over the few years. And I’m sure the wedding will be fabulous.”
This isn’t the first time Manning’s family has shown excitement over Swift and Kelce. In 2023, Manning shared with PEOPLE about his daughters’ interest in watching football after discovering that Taylor Swift was at one of Kelce’s Chiefs games. Manning recalled, “I’ve never convinced the three of my girls to sit down on a Sunday and watch a whole lot of football. But once they found out Taylor Swift was at the game, there were three girls glued to the TV just to watch it, trying to figure out who Travis Kelce was and what was going on.”
Apart from family matters, Manning is currently engaged in a new partnership with King’s Hawaiian, a dinner roll brand. He stars in a campaign promoting Football Season-ing, a blend aimed at enhancing sliders, dips, pasta salads, and other game day staples. Manning, sporting a new look in the commercial, shared his excitement about wearing facial hair in the video, a preference he doesn’t usually get to indulge in real life.
Reflecting on the importance of Sundays, Manning emphasised the significance of traditions, family, friends, and football coming together with great food. Manning’s involvement with King’s Hawaiian showcases his passion for bringing people together through shared experiences, good food, and a touch of humour.
As Eli Manning continues to navigate life post-NFL and explore new opportunities, his family’s genuine moments of joy and excitement over events like celebrity engagements serve as reminders of the simple pleasures that bring people together, whether it’s through sports, entertainment, or simply sharing a meal with loved ones. Eli Manning’s candid anecdotes highlight the universal appeal of celebrating milestones and enjoying life’s little surprises, no matter where the journey may lead.
