Discover the Newest Pirate-Themed Pub in Disney World: The Beak and Barrel (Exclusive)
A new dining experience awaits visitors to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort, with the opening of The Beak and Barrel, a Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired tavern. While the official launch is scheduled for August 29, a sneak peek was granted to PEOPLE, providing an exclusive look inside this exciting new establishment.
Mallory Ledet, the public relations manager at Walt Disney World, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the rich history and storytelling associated with the Pirates of the Caribbean theme. Ledet praised the Imagineering team for their meticulous attention to detail and ability to draw inspiration from the beloved tale. The anticipation for this new addition is palpable among Disney enthusiasts.
The heart of The Beak and Barrel is The Mess, a space that once housed Spanish soldiers before being overtaken and transformed by a band of clever pirates. The room features long communal tables, an anchor chandelier adorned with candles, and intricate “Mermaid Windows” salvaged from a notorious pirate ship wreckage. Additionally, a striking skull-shaped bar stands as the centerpiece, showcasing a selection of rare spirits. A resident bird named Rummy perches atop the bar, regaling guests with stories, jokes, or songs.
For a more refined experience, patrons can venture into the Captains’ Quarters, which previously served as the home of the Spanish Comandante. The room exudes elegance with a central fireplace, elaborate artwork, and luxurious drapes. Miniature ships encased in glass bottles adorn the mantelpiece, while carved wood panels line the walls, framing four grand booths for a more intimate setting.
Step into the Mapmaker’s Room to discover a collection of rolled maps, weathered parchment, and hidden secrets amidst spilled ink. A large printed map depicting the world of piracy hangs on the wall, adding to the immersive atmosphere of exploration and adventure. Earlier this month, Disney unveiled a preview of the delectable dishes that await guests at The Beak and Barrel, ranging from tropical beverages to sea-inspired cuisine.
To partake in this swashbuckling experience, advanced reservations are mandatory, with each party allotted a 45-minute time slot. Guests must present a valid photo ID for alcohol purchases and are limited to two drinks per person. The concept of The Beak and Barrel was first announced by Disney in September 2023, and the anticipation has been building ever since.
In the realm of amusement parks, Disney World continues to captivate visitors with innovative attractions and themed experiences. The introduction of The Beak and Barrel adds a nostalgic touch to the Magic Kingdom, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the world of Pirates of the Caribbean like never before. Whether indulging in the culinary delights or marvelling at the detailed decor, visitors are sure to create lasting memories at this new establishment.
