Ariana Madix Teams Up with ASPCA to Support Pet Adoption

A fresh advocate for animal welfare has joined forces with the ASPCA to make a difference. On August 22, it was revealed that Ariana Madix has become a part of the ASPCA’s Rescue Effect campaign, which aims to promote the adoption of pets from local shelters and rescue organisations. Madix, who is a proud pet parent to a rescue herself, will be using her social media platforms to shine a spotlight on adoptable pets across the country until October.
Expressing her passion for the cause, the host of ‘Love Island USA’ stated, “When you visit a shelter, you’ll see so many wonderful animals just waiting for a second chance. Choosing to adopt even one pet creates a ripple — not just for that animal, but for others who now have a better chance at finding a home, too.” This initiative led by Madix comes at a crucial time as statistics from the ASPCA show that nearly 6 million dogs and cats found their way into shelters and rescue centres in 2024.
Unfortunately, a significant number of these rescue animals, particularly dogs, are spending prolonged periods in shelters, which is adding strain to the already limited resources of these shelters and reducing the space available for other animals in need. In a bid to encourage more people to help, Madix and the ASPCA are urging individuals who may not be able to adopt to consider fostering a pet. Fostering not only offers a temporary reprieve to animals from the shelter environment but also enables these shelters to accommodate more animals requiring assistance.
In her personal capacity, Madix emphasises the joy and fulfilment that pets bring into one’s life. With two adopted pets of her own – 18-year-old cat Kitty and 6-year-old pit bull mix Mya Moon – Madix recognises the profound impact that adoption and rescue efforts can have. Reflecting on her childhood, she shared, “Pet adoption and rescue have been important to me since I was a little kid. My mom shared my love for animals, and she gave me the instinct to help them. I want people to know there are amazing animals in shelters who match all the things they say they’re looking for — whether it be breed, size, or age. These animals do exist in shelters — just go look.”
Over 550 shelters and rescue organisations from across the nation are actively participating in The Rescue Effect program, collaborating with the ASPCA and Madix to drive pet adoption and reduce the waiting time for animals seeking forever homes. Christa Chadwick, the vice president of shelter services for the ASPCA, expressed gratitude for Madix’s involvement, remarking, “We’re thrilled to have Ariana Madix join the ASPCA for The Rescue Effect and use her voice to advocate for the millions of adoptable animals in need of loving homes.”
To complement Madix’s efforts, the ASPCA is allocating $2 million in grant funding to more than 100 shelters, enabling them to waive adoption fees and cover operational expenses in support of the campaign. Aiming to create a positive and lasting impact, this partnership between Ariana Madix and the ASPCA is poised to make a significant difference in the lives of rescue animals. By encouraging adoption and fostering, they hope to raise awareness and inspire more individuals to open their hearts and homes to these deserving creatures in need.
