Nine juveniles are still missing, with the longest disappearance dating back to July 28. While some missing individuals have been located or removed from the registry, the issue remains alarming for authorities.

The most recent missing children were reported on Sunday, Aug. 17, bringing Agent Steven Harstad of the state’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation to highlight the worrying rise in missing children. Harstad expressed his concern over the number of missing children in such a short timeframe, emphasising the need for swift action to locate and ensure the safety of these individuals.

Despite the spike in missing children cases, authorities do not believe that the incidents are related. Agent Harstad clarified that while there may be a possibility of more unreported cases, not all missing persons are reported, especially in cases of runaways who may have a history of returning home. However, he emphasised that even repeat runaways could find themselves in dangerous situations at any given time.

The North Dakota state registry recorded the most recent disappearance of 16-year-old Alexa Taylor, last seen on Aug. 17, shedding light on the ongoing nature of the issue.
