The arrest affidavit for James Agnew, obtained by Law & Crime and reviewed by PEOPLE, alleges that the Agnews initially denied O’Neill’s presence in their home when questioned by the police during the welfare check. However, discrepancies in their statements led to further scrutiny.

Further investigation uncovered that James Agnew had been using O’Neill’s bank account for financial transactions. A distressing emergency dispatch call made by O’Neill in December 2023, where he mentioned threats from his roommate without wanting police intervention, also came to light during the inquiry.

During the execution of a search warrant at the Agnews’ residence on July 3, investigators made a gruesome discovery of a deceased body, believed to be O’Neill’s. Suzanne Agnew admitted to finding O’Neill dead in the house, but instead of alerting the authorities, she opted to hide the body under an air mattress as her pet chihuahuas had reportedly begun chewing on it.

James has been charged with various offenses including abuse of a corpse, tampering with a corpse, and financial theft, while Suzanne faces similar charges, as reported by 9NEWS.
