Ex-Maroon 5 Bassist’s Wife Files for Divorce After Domestic Violence Allegations
Catherine Blair Bowman, the wife of former Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden, has recently filed for divorce from Madden following allegations of domestic violence. The divorce filing comes just two weeks after Bowman sought a restraining order against Madden, accusing him of physically assaulting her after she confronted him about allegedly “sexting with teenage girls.”
In court documents filed on Tuesday, August 12, in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Bowman cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce. She is requesting spousal support and a division of assets. The couple, who got married on May 6, 2025, do not have children. Madden and Bowman’s two huskies, Toast and Jam, were covered in the restraining order.
Bowman’s restraining order against Madden was filed in late July, where she expressed fear of Madden and detailed the alleged assault that occurred on July 21. According to Bowman, she discovered messages from a teenage girl alerting her to Madden’s alleged inappropriate communication. When she confronted Madden, she claimed he became enraged, leading to a physical altercation where he reportedly slammed her against a kitchen counter and to the ground.
The documents also cited another instance of abuse on May 14, with Bowman stating she is now terrified of Madden. Screenshotted text messages submitted in the request for a restraining order purportedly show Madden referring to the sexting as a “harmless fantasy” with no impact on real life. Bowman claimed Madden withheld intimacy from her following her desire to conceive a child, instead allegedly engaging with a “prostitute.”
Madden’s turbulent history includes leaving Maroon 5 in 2020 after an alleged domestic violence incident, leading to an arrest on a felony charge in Los Angeles in June 20, 2020. Acknowledging these events, Madden released on the same day after posting bond. He was also arrested for cocaine possession in 2016 in New York City.
At present, Madden’s representatives are unreachable for comment on the recent developments. For those experiencing domestic violence, the National Domestic Violence Hotline offers confidential and toll-free assistance at 1-800-799-7233, supporting callers in over 170 languages 24/7.
The legal proceedings between Madden and Bowman shed light on the complexities of domestic relationships and the impact of alleged abusive behaviour. Such cases underline the importance of seeking help and support when faced with domestic violence situations. It remains crucial for individuals in such circumstances to access resources and assistance for their safety and well-being.
