4-Year-Old Boy Dies in Chain-Reaction Crash Involving Car and E-Bike, Police Say

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the two children had been struck by a vehicle on the sidewalk in front of a restaurant. The car, which was entering Donnelly Avenue from a driveway, was hit by an e-bike traveling eastbound. This collision caused the car to accelerate across the avenue, onto the sidewalk, and into the Truffle Bar Restaurant, where it finally came to a stop, as detailed by authorities.

Tragically, the 4-year-old boy suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Identified as Ayden Fang, the young boy was at the Truffle Poke Bar restaurant with his family when the crash occurred. Described as a boy who loved turtles and reading, Ayden’s untimely passing has deeply affected his loved ones and the community. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support Fang’s family, raising over $20,000 as of August 12.

The 6-year-old girl involved in the crash was transported to Stanford Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and continues to receive medical care. The driver of the car, a 19-year-old woman from San Mateo, cooperated with authorities and remained at the scene. Police have confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the incident.
