Due to COVID-19 protocols, the cast and crew were socially distanced, which posed challenges when seeking immediate help. Odenkirk mentioned that he immediately turned gray, prompting Campbell to provide support by holding his head up. Despite Campbell and Fabian’s urgent calls for help, the seriousness of the situation initially went unnoticed by others on set, who mistook their cries for laughter due to the physical distancing measures in place.

During the critical moments following the heart attack, the absence of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for 15 minutes heightened the tension. However, the show’s medical officer, Rosa Estrada, commenced CPR promptly, albeit with the discomfort of breaking Odenkirk’s ribs in the process. It took three shocks from the AED to restore his heartbeat before he was rushed to the hospital and placed in a medically induced coma for treatment. The following morning, doctors performed a procedure to clear the artery blockage and inserted two stents to support his recovery.

He described waking up from the coma with no recollection of his time in the hospital, highlighting the severity of the incident.
