Former Superman actor, Dean Cain, has made headlines once again, this time for his decision to become a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. Cain, known for his role as Superman in the ’90s TV show “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” announced his plans to join ICE during an interview on Fox News. The 59-year-old actor shared that he was inspired to join ICE after witnessing the recent push by the Trump administration for Americans to join the agency amidst an immigration crackdown.

In his interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters, Cain revealed that he is already a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer, but expressed his enthusiasm for taking on this new role within ICE. He stated, “I will be sworn in as an ICE agent, ASAP,” and encouraged other former officers and ICE agents to step up and help protect the country. While Cain acknowledged that he was willing to do whatever ICE director Todd Lyons required of him, he doubted that he would be put in certain positions but declared that he would be on the front lines if needed.
Taking to Instagram to share his decision, Cain urged others to consider joining first responders like himself, emphasising the importance of ensuring the safety and security of all Americans. This move comes as part of the Trump administration’s recruitment effort for ICE, with the Department of Homeland Security offering incentives such as a maximum $50,000 signing bonus, student loan repayment options, and the waiving of age limits for new applicants. The DHS reported receiving over 80,000 applications in response to the recruitment campaign.

Cain’s decision to join ICE follows his recent criticism of James Gunn’s depiction of Superman in a new movie as “woke” and an “immigrant.” Cain expressed concerns about how this portrayal might impact the character’s iconic image, stating that Superman has always represented truth, justice, and the American way, which includes being immigrant-friendly but within certain boundaries. Despite the backlash he received for his comments, with fans pointing out instances in his own show where Superman dealt with immigration-related issues, Cain remains steadfast in his beliefs.

As a former Superman actor, Cain’s transition to becoming an ICE agent has sparked debate and discussion among fans and the public. His decision to take on this new role reflects his dedication to serving and protecting the country, aligning with his past experiences in law enforcement. Whether this move will influence others to follow suit and join ICE remains to be seen, but Cain’s commitment to this cause is clear. Time will tell how his journey from portraying a superhero on screen to becoming a real-life agent will unfold.
