The wife of former Maroon 5 bassist, Mickey Madden, has come forward alleging a disturbing incident of assault following her confrontation with him over alleged sexting with teenage girls. Catherine Blair Bowman, in court documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, expressed feelings of fear towards Madden and is seeking a restraining order against him. The court granted a temporary restraining order until a scheduled court date on August 20, covering their two huskies, Toast and Jam, as the couple does not have children.

On July 21, Bowman claimed to have received a message from a teenage girl exposing Madden’s alleged inappropriate conversations with her. This revelation prompted Bowman to ask Madden about the situation, leading to a confrontation. According to Bowman’s statement, Madden refused to show his phone but was seen deleting evidence, which escalated into a physical altercation. Bowman detailed that Madden restrained her, slammed her against a kitchen counter, and shoved her to the ground, causing her pain and fear.
In addition to the recent incident on July 21, Bowman also disclosed another episode of abuse on May 14, stating that Madden caused her extreme emotional harm and left her terrified. Text messages submitted as evidence revealed Madden referring to the sexting as a “private and fake harmless fantasy,” emphasizing that it had no bearing on reality. In response, Bowman accused Madden of engaging with prostitutes while withholding intimacy from her, especially after expressing a desire to start a family together.
Madden’s departure from Maroon 5 in 2020 occurred shortly after an alleged domestic violence incident, leading to his arrest on a felony charge in Los Angeles in June of the same year. Prior to this, in 2016, Madden faced legal trouble for cocaine possession in New York City. Despite these incidents, a representative for Madden was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.
Domestic violence is a serious issue, and for those affected, the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 offers support in over 170 languages, ensuring confidential assistance 24/7. As the legal process unfolds in the case involving Madden and Bowman, the gravity of the allegations underscores the importance of addressing and preventing intimate partner violence in all its forms. The ongoing developments in this story serve as a stark reminder of the complex and often distressing realities faced by individuals in abusive relationships.
