“Dancing with the Stars” Star Ezra Sosa Regrets Missing Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Audition
Professional dancer Ezra Sosa recently admitted on the Just Trish Podcast that his “biggest flop” was not auditioning for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, a decision he now regrets. Despite being invited to audition, Sosa chose loyalty to “Dancing with the Stars” over the opportunity to tour with Taylor Swift. The 24-year-old pro dancer believed he had a good chance at landing a role on the tour, especially given his training under choreographer Mandy Moore, who also worked on popular dance shows like “Dancing with the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance.”
Reflecting on his decision, Sosa explained that he felt his loyalty to “Dancing with the Stars” was paramount, as he was serving as a swing for the show at the time. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be a pro dancer on the competition series, particularly partnering with Anna Delvey during season 33. Sosa and Delvey were eventually eliminated from the show, with Delvey giving a memorable one-word response, “Nothing,” when asked what she took away from her experience on the show. Sosa described Delvey’s reaction as “iconic” and praised her for staying true to herself throughout their journey on the show.
Despite missing out on auditioning for Taylor Swift’s tour, Sosa expressed contentment with his decision and the support he received from fans and show producers. He highlighted the positive experience of working with Delvey and appreciated her authenticity and willingness to open up during their time together on the show. Sosa commended Delvey for showcasing different aspects of her personality to the audience, while also staying true to herself, something he greatly respected.
As the Eras Tour unfolded, spanning 149 shows from March 2023 to December 2024, it became the highest-grossing concert tour in history, according to Pollstar. The tour’s success further underscored the missed opportunity for Sosa, who acknowledges the potential outcome had he pursued the audition. While Sosa might have missed a chance to join a record-breaking tour, he remains focused on his journey with “Dancing with the Stars” and the opportunities it has presented to him.
Sosa’s decision to prioritise loyalty to his current commitment over a tempting opportunity serves as a reminder of the value of staying true to one’s professional commitments and following one’s heart. As he continues to grow in his career as a professional dancer, Sosa’s experience sheds light on the challenges and tough choices that often accompany success in the entertainment industry. Despite his “biggest flop,” Sosa’s journey is a testament to the dedication and passion required to succeed in the competitive world of dance and performance.
