Retired NYPD sergeant and forensic video expert Conor McCourt told CBS, “Based on the limited video, it’s more likely it’s a person in an [orange] uniform.” Another anomaly noted in the footage was a jump forward in time just before midnight, accompanied by a change in aspect ratio, casting doubt on the authenticity of the video released to the public. Minutes after midnight, an unidentified individual was observed moving through the unit in the jail.

Despite these revelations, both the FBI and the Bureau of Prisons declined to comment on the matter. The inspector general’s office did issue a statement in response, acknowledging the CBS report but asserting that the new findings did not alter their conclusions or recommendations.
