The album, set to be released on June 27, features contributions from Winans’ wife, Chérie, as well as his sons Carvin Jr. and Juan, and his daughter Laylah. Described as a blend of old-school R&B and modern hip-hop influences, “Cool Gospel” delivers a powerful, spiritual message that resonates with listeners. Winans emphasises the importance of belief and positivity, as heard in the track “You Gotta Believe.”
One of the standout singles from the album, “God Still Working On Me,” soared to the top of Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart, reinforcing Winans’ ability to connect with audiences through his music. Another track, “Sing Forever,” co-written by Winans’ sons, reflects his desire to keep the legacy of music alive within his family. The album also pays homage to the Winans family heritage with the track “Family Is Family,” underscoring the significance of familial bonds in Winans’ life.

Having grown up in a household filled with music, Winans acknowledges the unique upbringing he and his siblings experienced. Born into a musical family led by their parents David and Delores Winans, Carvin reflects on the early days of singing with his brothers Marvin, Ronald, and Michael. Their musical journey eventually led them to collaborate with music icon Michael Jackson on the hit song “Man in the Mirror,” an experience that left a lasting impact on Winans.

In addition to his success with the Winans quartet, Winans has also made a name for himself as a talented songwriter, working with renowned artists such as Regina Bell, Peabo Bryson, and the late Whitney Houston. Reflecting on his collaboration with Houston on the song “Love Is,” Winans recalls the profound impact her voice had on the recording. Despite the challenges he faced following the passing of his brother Ronald in 2005, Winans remains dedicated to his music career, continuing to create and perform with passion and purpose.
As he looks ahead to the future, Winans is grateful for the opportunity to share his music with audiences around the world. With plans to tour with the Detroit Gospel Legends starting this October, Winans is excited to showcase his latest work and connect with fans through the power of music. Through his unwavering faith and dedication to his craft, Carvin Winans continues to inspire listeners with his uplifting melodies and timeless message of hope and perseverance.
