Pop star Halsey, well-known for hits like “Colors”, has recently taken to Instagram to offer a raw glimpse into their health journey. In a selfie posted on Sunday, June 22, the 30-year-old singer displayed a medical port on their chest, alongside other personal snapshots taken while on tour for their “For My Last Trick” tour. The intimate photo showed a fresh-faced Halsey in a hospital bathroom mirror sporting a white tank top, with the port visibly inserted in their chest. Accompanying the image, Halsey captioned, “Evidence that I still exist when the show ends. 90s mum haircut loading đ.” The singer’s fiancĂ©, Avan Jogia, left an airplane emoji in the comments section of the post.

In June 2024, Halsey disclosed on Instagram that they had been diagnosed with Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder in 2022. The artist mentioned that both conditions are currently being managed or in remission and are likely to persist throughout their life. Halsey expressed gratitude for the support of their doctors in controlling the conditions, stating, “After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors.” The singer emphasised the role of music in helping them cope with the health challenges, sharing, “After 2 years, Iâm feeling better and Iâm more grateful than ever to have music to turn to.”
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that triggers the immune system to attack healthy tissues, causing inflammation that can have detrimental effects on various parts of the body such as the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs. Regrettably, there is currently no cure for Lupus, as per The Mayo Clinic. On the other hand, lymphoproliferative disorders encompass diseases characterised by the uncontrolled production of lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell. This group of disorders includes T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders like leukemia and lymphoma.
In September 2024, Halsey disclosed via X that they had experienced a seizure and were hospitalised as a result. Despite the health scare, the singer later updated fans that they had been discharged from the hospital after a few days, viewing it as a positive outcome. PEOPLE has reached out to Halseyâs representatives for further information but has not received a response at this time. The singer’s openness about their health battles has garnered support from fans and the public, with many sending messages of encouragement and solidarity.
Halsey’s decision to share personal moments of their health journey on social media reflects their commitment to raising awareness about chronic illnesses and destigmatising discussions surrounding health challenges. By allowing glimpses into vulnerable moments like hospital visits and medical procedures, the singer is humanising the experience of living with chronic conditions and connecting with audiences on a deeper level. Halsey’s openness serves as a reminder that celebrities, despite their fame, face health struggles like anyone else and can inspire others to confront their own health battles with courage and resilience.
In an industry where image and perfection often take precedence, Halsey’s unfiltered portrayal of their health journey is a refreshing departure from the norm. Their willingness to share both the highs and lows of living with chronic illnesses resonates with many individuals who may be silently battling similar health issues. By using their platform to shed light on the realities of chronic conditions, Halsey is not only advocating for greater understanding and empathy but also fostering a community of support and solidarity among fans and followers. Halsey’s candid Instagram post serves as a testament to their strength, vulnerability, and unwavering spirit in the face of health challenges.
