Seven individuals tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash in India, a devastating incident that occurred just days after the Air India tragedy. The helicopter crash took place in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, where a Bell 407 helicopter carrying passengers to various Hindu religious pilgrimage sites in the Himalayan mountains crashed during what was meant to be a short 10-minute flight. The helicopter, operated by private helicopter service company Aryan Aviation, departed at 5:19 a.m. local time and crashed around 5:30 a.m. into a forested area, believed to have been caused by adverse weather conditions.

Among the victims of the crash were the helicopter’s pilot and a 2-year-old child, as stated by the directorate general of civil aviation. The passengers onboard hailed from neighbouring states such as Uttar Pradesh, as well as Maharashtra and Gujarat. Regrettably, all the bodies suffered extensive burns due to a subsequent fire following the crash. India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) will be leading the investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash, shedding light on this tragic event.
Local authorities, led by Nandan Singh Rajwar, have initiated a rescue and search operation at the crash site in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, leveraging all available resources to address the aftermath of the incident.
