In the midst of a legal dispute with his ex-wife Jodie Turner-Smith, Joshua Jackson has taken the step to file for an emergency custody order modification regarding their daughter, Juno. The ‘Doctor Odyssey’ actor lodged the motion last Friday, June 30, citing concerns that Turner-Smith unilaterally changed their 5-year-old daughter’s school without his consent, as per court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
Jackson’s declaration outlined his apprehensions about the abrupt school transfer for Juno, stating Turner-Smith’s stance that it was inconsequential to transition to a new educational institution. There was also a worry expressed that Turner-Smith might be orchestrating a situation where Juno would frequently travel with her instead of attending a conventional school setting.

It appears that this move highlights the ongoing legal battle between the former couple, underscoring the complexities that can arise in co-parenting arrangements post-separation. Both Jackson and Turner-Smith had welcomed Juno in 2020 and subsequently navigated the challenges of raising their daughter together.
The court documents indicate that Jackson is pushing for Juno to continue attending her current school for the upcoming academic year, emphasising the importance of joint agreement between himself and Turner-Smith for any future alterations in Juno’s schooling. Despite reaching out to representatives for both parties for their comments on the matter, there has been no immediate response from either side.
Having initially linked in 2018 and tying the knot in secret in 2019, Jackson and Turner-Smith have since parted ways. Their divorce was finalised in May 2025, with terms stipulating Jackson’s monthly child support contribution of $2,787. However, the issue of Juno’s schooling remained a point of contention between the former spouses.
Turner-Smith, in a previous court document, had asserted her right to make ultimate decisions regarding Juno’s education after an initial consultation with Jackson, as per an agreement made in 2024. This underscores the challenges faced in establishing collaborative co-parenting post-divorce, as Turner-Smith had candidly shared in a past interview on the topic.
As Turner-Smith had alluded to the complexities of co-parenting following their split, highlighting the adjustment period and the absence of a manual to navigate such dynamics, it sheds light on the nuances involved in post-divorce parental relationships.
This recent development in Jackson’s legal filing regarding Juno’s custody arrangements further underscores the delicate balance required in co-parenting situations and the importance of open communication and mutual decision-making. As the legal proceedings unfold, it remains to be seen how Jackson and Turner-Smith will navigate this latest challenge in their efforts to co-parent their daughter, Juno.
