Baker recounted the unsettling encounter, stating that as she emerged from a bathroom stall, a security guard was waiting for her, insisting that she was in the wrong restroom. Despite Baker identifying as a woman and being born female, she was forced to present her ID to the security guard to validate her gender. The situation escalated further when other women waiting in line also directed hostile comments towards Baker, adding to her distress. The entire ordeal unfolded in a public restroom, compounding the humiliation for Baker.

In response to the incident, the Liberty Hotel has taken action by suspending the security guard involved and initiating mandatory retraining for their staff on creating a safe environment for LGBTQ+ individuals. Moreover, the hotel has committed to making a donation to a local LGBTQ+ organization on the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. Baker expressed her dissatisfaction with the lack of communication from the hotel, stating that only her girlfriend has been contacted, leaving her with a sense of “absolute radio silence.”
