A young boy in Brooklyn endured a terrifying ordeal last month when he was attacked by a dog in a local park. Angel Sanchez, aged 7, had to receive nine stitches following the incident that occurred at Bushwick’s Thomas Boyland Park after his little league practice on April 14th.

According to reports, Angel was playing with his father when a dog, believed to be a pit bull, suddenly bit him on the back of his leg. The dog owner fled the scene after attempting to assist, leaving the family shocked and seeking accountability for the attack.
Surveillance footage captured the distressing moment when the dog attacked Angel as he ran on the field. Angel’s father, Henry Sanchez, recalled the incident unfolding rapidly and expressed his concern to News 12 Brooklyn, emphasising the traumatic nature of the event.
Tony Nunez, a witness and close friend, described the dog’s aggression as “relentless” during the attack. The New York Police Department confirmed receiving a call about the incident and reported that Angel sustained a bite mark on his lower back and scratches on his right leg, resulting in his transport to Maimonides Medical Center for treatment.
Angel, who aspires to play for the New York Yankees in the future, recounted the harrowing experience to a local news affiliate. He described pushing the dog away but being bitten multiple times, causing him to scream in pain. The severity of the injuries necessitated nine stitches on Angel’s lower back, thigh and legs, accompanied by bleeding and tears.
With courage and quick action, Angel’s father intervened to rescue his son from the dog’s jaws, ultimately subduing the animal to ensure Angel’s safety. Despite efforts to locate the dog and its owner, both parties remain elusive, leaving the Sanchez family eager for accountability and justice in the aftermath of the traumatic incident.
The community has rallied behind Angel and his family, advocating for the responsible pet owner to come forward and offer an apology for the harm caused. As the search for the dog and its owner continues, the desire for prevention of similar incidents grows stronger, with an emphasis on accountability and safety in public spaces.
In a heartfelt plea, Henry Sanchez expressed his wishes to spare other families from enduring similar trauma, highlighting the importance of responsible pet ownership and adherence to safety measures in shared recreational areas. The incident serves as a reminder of the significance of vigilance and care in interactions involving animals, underscoring the need for mutual respect and protection in community settings.
As the investigation unfolds and efforts to locate the dog and its owner intensify, the resilience and unity exhibited by the Sanchez family resonates with the community, inspiring a collective call for accountability and safety in public spaces. Angel’s bravery in facing the aftermath of the attack reflects resilience and hope for a future where such incidents are prevented through proactive measures and communal support.
