The New York Police Department confirmed receiving a call about the incident and reported that Angel sustained a bite mark on his lower back and scratches on his right leg, resulting in his transport to Maimonides Medical Center for treatment.

Angel, who aspires to play for the New York Yankees in the future, recounted the harrowing experience to a local news affiliate. He described pushing the dog away but being bitten multiple times, causing him to scream in pain. The severity of the injuries necessitated nine stitches on Angel’s lower back, thigh and legs, accompanied by bleeding and tears.

With courage and quick action, Angel’s father intervened to rescue his son from the dog’s jaws, ultimately subduing the animal to ensure Angel’s safety.
