In a touching Instagram post shared on April 28, Angie Harmon unveiled her newest furry family member to the world – a black-and-white dog named Lucy. The actress, known for her role in “Law & Order,” captioned the photo playfully, saying, “Just me, my dog, and the realization that I’ve been demoted from human to FURNITURE đđ Happy Monday Y’all.”
Harmon revealed to PEOPLE that Lucy has been a source of comfort and healing for her, especially following the tragic death of her beloved dog Oliver in 2024. Oliver was fatally shot on March 30, 2024, by an Instacart delivery driver, leaving Harmon and her family devastated.
The incident, investigated by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, saw the delivery driver, Christopher Anthoney Reid, claiming self-defense after Oliver allegedly attacked him. The loss of Oliver was described by Harmon as a deeply traumatic experience, with the actress recounting the heartbreaking moment when she found her injured dog after hearing the fatal shot.
The grieving process was immense for Harmon and her three daughters, Finley, Avery, and Emery, following Oliver’s passing. The actress, who was unsure about welcoming another pet into her life at the time, found herself pleasantly surprised by the arrival of Lucy, thanks to her daughter, Avery, who gifted the dog to Harmon as a Mother’s Day surprise in May 2024.
