A heartwarming reunion recently took place at Avera Health in Sioux Falls, where a South Dakota mother of seven gathered with the NICU staff who played a vital role in saving the lives of her surprise quadruplets. Jenny LeBrun, the dedicated mother, shared that her four miracle babies – three boys named Cru, Levi, Grayson, and a girl named Oakley – are now 2 and a half years old and are thriving.
Reflecting on their journey, Jenny expressed immense gratitude towards the NICU staff, acknowledging the critical role they played during the 58-day stay of her precious babies. Jenny mentioned, “It’s almost hard to come up with words to say how unbelievably grateful we are. Our babies spent their first two months of life with the NICU staff… Ultimately, they kept my babies alive.”

The LeBrun family’s story began with a surprising twist when Jenny learned she was not just expecting her fourth child, as initially believed, but four babies during her first ultrasound appointment back in October 2022. The news came as a shock to both Jenny and her husband, Dusty, who initially thought it was a playful prank due to their lighthearted dynamic.
Despite the initial disbelief, the LeBruns quickly adapted to the unexpected news. Jenny’s pregnancy progressed well until she fell ill at 28 weeks, leading to the premature birth of the quadruplets one week later. Fortunately, the babies were able to breathe on their own, although they were incredibly tiny at birth, Jenny shared.
Following their time in the NICU, the quadruplets experienced some health challenges, including contracting respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Cru and Oakley had to be airlifted to the hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for intensive care. Jenny recalled the harrowing experience, mentioning the dark days they faced while uncertainty loomed over their little ones’ health.
Despite the hurdles, Jenny stood strong alongside her children as they battled through various health issues, including a bout with COVID. Today, nearly two years after their birth, the LeBrun quadruplets showcased their vibrant energy at the NICU reunion in Sioux Falls, much to the delight of the medical staff who witnessed their remarkable growth and development.
As Jenny navigates life with seven children, she finds solace in the beautiful chaos that surrounds her family, embracing the busyness as a sign of their health and vitality. Her optimism and resilience shine through as she gracefully handles the challenges that come her way, drawing strength from the love that binds her extraordinary family together.
The NICU reunion served as a poignant reminder of the journey the LeBrun family has undergone, highlighting the unwavering support of the medical staff who played a pivotal role in the quadruplets’ survival. For Jenny, Dusty, and their seven children, each milestone reached is a testament to their resilience and the profound love that anchors them together.
The LeBurns’ story is a powerful testament to the strength of family bonds and the enduring spirit of hope that carries them through life’s most challenging moments. As they continue to navigate the joys and complexities of raising seven children, their unwavering love and determination serve as an inspiration to all who witness their remarkable journey.
