Chelsea Reeves, a determined 23-year-old, managed to bring her 5-month-old brother, Hugo, out of the UK foster care system and into her custody. Back in 2023, Reeves received compensation following a lawsuit against social services, which she utilised to take her brother on international trips. Reeves, who spent most of her life moving in and out of foster care, felt a strong sense of responsibility towards her youngest brother, Hugo. With a strong sense of purpose fuelled by her own harrowing experiences, Reeves fought tirelessly to provide a safe and loving environment for her brother, eventually gaining special guardianship.

The process of retrieving Hugo from foster care was not without challenges. Despite facing setbacks during court assessments, Reeves persevered by presenting a compelling case on her third attempt. She was resolute in ensuring Hugo’s well-being, showcasing her determination and commitment to caring for him.

Reeves used the remainder of the criminal injury reward to take Hugo on international adventures.
