Bride Innovates with Edible Wedding Invitations
In a unique twist on traditional wedding invitations, a bride has captured the spotlight by sending out edible wedding invitations to her guests. Jazmin Reyes and Miguel Sotto, the soon-to-be-wed couple from the Philippines, have garnered attention for their unconventional approach to save-the-dates.
Reyes, who describes herself as an “anti-bride,” collaborated with Bridal Brandbook to come up with a creative invitation idea that would set the tone for their wedding festivities. Instead of opting for the usual paper invitations, they decided to make a bold statement with edible invites.
The couple’s brainstorming initially led them to consider stamping produce like tomatoes or Chinese steamed buns with their wedding logo. However, they eventually settled on the idea of stamping their logo onto loaves of bread, which they felt was the most practical choice.
Working with local baker Daniel Baker, Reyes and Sotto produced around 200 loaves of milk bread, each imprinted with their unique wedding logo. The logo, a combination of their initials with a yin and yang element, symbolizes the harmony in their relationship.
Each loaf of bread was carefully packaged in a maroon box, wrapped in cellophane paper, and adorned with a white lace bow. The packaging featured playful bread puns, such as “Bready or not, here we go” and “Save the date. We loaf you!” Guests were also able to scan a QR code on the packaging to RSVP to the wedding.
Despite initial concerns about how their guests, particularly the older generation, would react to the edible invitations, Reyes and Sotto were thrilled to find that their guests enthusiastically embraced the idea. Guests not only appreciated the novelty but also enjoyed planning how they would savour their bread invites.
Reyes shared a video of her custom bread loaves on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where it quickly gained traction and positive feedback. Many were intrigued by the cost-effectiveness of the edible invitations, with Reyes revealing that the bread invitations cost less than half of what traditional paper invites would have cost.
The couple’s decision to opt for edible wedding invitations has not only delighted their guests but has also sparked a conversation about innovative wedding trends. As Bridal Brandbook aptly put it on Instagram, “In a world where cardstock reigns supreme — we say, choose carbs 🥖✨.”
In an era where weddings are becoming increasingly personalised, Jazmin Reyes and Miguel Sotto’s edible wedding invitations serve as a reminder that creativity knows no bounds when it comes to celebrating love and partnership. Their story is a testament to thinking outside the box and infusing personality into every aspect of the wedding journey.
