High School Crash Survivor’s Mom Says Daughter Has ‘Long, Painful Recovery’ Ahead After Collision Killed 4 Teens

Marley Barclay, a 14-year-old survivor of a tragic high school crash in West Marin, California, that claimed the lives of four teens, now faces a long and painful recovery, her family said. The incident occurred on April 18 when a Volkswagen SUV carrying six teenagers veered off the road and crashed into a tree. Four teens tragically lost their lives in the accident, while Marley and another survivor, Elsa Laremont Stranczek, sustained injuries.

The Tamalpais Union High School District confirmed that all six victims were students at Archie Williams High School in San Anselmo. The district expressed condolences, stating, “Our hearts are with the families of the four beautiful young souls, lost far too soon.” Marley’s mother, Jessica Glantz, spoke out about the tragedy, debunking speculations of alcohol involvement in the crash. She revealed that Marley and her friends were all wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

According to authorities from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Marin Office, the crash occurred on San Geronimo Valley Road, resulting in the deaths of three occupants at the scene, with a fourth succumbing to injuries at a local hospital. Marley recounted that as the group approached a blind turn, another car veered into their lane, leading to the devastating collision. Glantz emphasised that Marley faces a difficult road to recovery ahead, as the community reels from the loss of the young lives.
