College Student, 19, Charged in Missouri Tesla Firebombing

A 19-year-old college student, Owen McIntire, has been charged in connection with a firebombing incident at a Tesla dealership in Missouri. The Department of Justice’s Office of Public Affairs announced McIntire’s arrest on Friday, revealing that he allegedly used a Molotov cocktail to set fire to the Kansas City Tesla business. McIntire, a resident of Kansas City who attends college in Boston, is facing federal charges including unlawful possession of an unregistered destructive device and malicious damage by fire of property used in interstate commerce.

The arson attack took place on March 17 at around 11:16 p.m., as reported in an affidavit by the DOJ. Attorney General Pamela Bondi issued a warning to potential offenders, stating that those involved in such violent acts will face arrest, prosecution, and lengthy prison sentences. The incident at the Kansas City Tesla dealership follows a series of similar attacks on Tesla properties, including a Cybertruck explosion at the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas earlier this year, resulting in casualties.

In response to the escalating violence against Tesla establishments, Tesla CEO Elon Musk condemned the attacks, emphasizing that the company’s focus is on producing electric vehicles and not engaging in any controversial activities. The damaged Cybertrucks at the Kansas City dealership were valued at over $100,000 each, with additional damage to charging stations.
