The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office reported that a State Patrol trooper, responding to the crash, was unable to avoid colliding with the vehicles, leading to further injuries.

The crash resulted in five people being injured, with four sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, including Braxton, while Blayke was left with critical wounds. Baylie Lesnick, the siblings’ sister, shared that both boys were initially okay after the first accident and even went to check on the other driver before the subsequent collision occurred. The family believes that the siblings’ injuries were primarily inflicted during this second crash involving the State Patrol trooper.

Blayke remains in critical condition, having undergone multiple surgeries for severe brain and spinal cord damage, among other injuries. On the other hand, Braxton, described as a caring soul by his sister, was recently discharged from the hospital with a ruptured eye, facial laceration, and a torn ACL.
