Renowned musician Liam Gallagher, best known for his work with the band Oasis, recently expressed his disdain for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Following Oasis’ nomination for the 2025 ceremony, the 52-year-old artist took to X to share his thoughts on the prestigious accolade, labelling the institution as ‘WANKERS’.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation unveiled the list of 14 nominees for the 2025 induction, which includes a diverse range of performers such as Mariah Carey, Chubby Checker, and Billy Idol. Notably, this year’s nominees also feature first-time contenders like Bad Company, The Black Crowes, and OutKast, among others.

Reflecting on the significance of the nominees, John Skyes, the Chairman of the Foundation, emphasised the unique musical contributions made by each artist. Eligibility for nomination is granted to musicians and bands 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording, with the final inductees decided by a global voting panel comprising over 1,200 industry professionals and artists.
The induction ceremony for the 2025 class is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles later this year, with the names of the performer inductees set to be announced in late April. Last year’s ceremony saw iconic artists like Mary J. Blige and Ozzy Osbourne among those honoured for their enduring impact on music.
Oasis, the British rock band fronted by the Gallagher brothers, recently announced their reunion tour after a hiatus of over a decade. Promising an electrifying return to the stage, the band is gearing up for stadium shows across the UK, Ireland, and select dates in the US, Canada, and Mexico, much to the excitement of their devoted fan base.
In a music scene rife with anticipation and speculation, the annual nomination process for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame serves as a platform to honour and celebrate the diverse legacies of influential artists. Despite differing opinions within the industry, the institution continues to play a pivotal role in recognising the enduring impact of musical pioneers.
As the music world eagerly awaits the reveal of this year’s inductees, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame remains a beacon of recognition for artists who have shaped the fabric of rock and roll history. With each induction, the institution reaffirms its commitment to preserving the rich tapestry of musical innovation for generations to come.
