Police in California have arrested three individuals for allegedly stealing mail from over 100 homes after a dramatic 23-mile chase. The suspects face multiple charges, including mail theft, possession of stolen property and burglary tools, and conspiracy. The incident began when an officer on patrol near Fowler and Alluvial avenues in Clovis noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area early Wednesday morning. The vehicle attempted to flee, leading officers on a high-speed chase that ended in southwest Fresno.

Law enforcement officers engaged in a pursuit of the suspects, who were speeding away in the vehicle. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) was called for assistance, and they deployed spike strips to deflate the suspects’ tires. The chase finally came to a halt near California and Orange avenues after an officer used a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver. This technique forces a fleeing vehicle to abruptly turn 180 degrees, causing it to stall and stop.

Although the suspects attempted to flee on foot after the PIT maneuver, they were swiftly apprehended by officers from the Clovis and Fresno police departments. While the suspects escaped injury during the arrest, one officer sustained a minor hand injury. Upon searching the suspects’ vehicle, law enforcement officers discovered mail from over 100 addresses in Clovis, including various envelopes, coupons, and a package from Amazon Pharmacy.

The three suspects have been identified as Yer Vue, 42, and Amanda Lizarraga, 35, both from Fresno, and Sombat Vang, 30, of Clovis. They have been arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on the aforementioned charges. Detectives from the Clovis Police Department are collaborating with U.S. Postal Inspectors to investigate the crime and return the stolen mail to its rightful owners.
As authorities work to resolve the case, they urge residents to remain vigilant, especially during tax season. Law enforcement encourages individuals to monitor their mail regularly, report any suspicious activities to the authorities, and help maintain the security of their mailboxes. The swift actions of the police in this case demonstrate their commitment to tackling crimes that affect communities and ensuring justice is served.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding personal information and belongings, especially in an era where identity theft and fraud are prevalent. The diligence and quick response of law enforcement officers in apprehending the suspects highlight the dedication to protecting the interests and well-being of citizens. As the investigation continues, the authorities are focused on bringing closure to the affected residents and upholding the rule of law in the community.
