Country music star Sam Hunt, 40, has managed to avoid charges after reportedly being arrested for speeding outside Nashville. According to TMZ, Hunt was apprehended on January 20 for alleged speeding and a violation involving an interlock device, which is designed to prevent drivers from starting their vehicles without passing a breathalyzer test. He was released on the same day after posting a $1,500 bond.
While it remains unclear as to how Hunt violated the device, a representative for the singer informed PEOPLE that his lawyer has resolved the matter in court this week, resulting in no charges being pressed against him. The Henderson Police Department has yet to respond to enquiries made by PEOPLE regarding the incident.

This incident comes over five years after Hunt’s previous arrest in Nashville in November 2019, where he faced charges of driving under the influence and possession of an open container. During this incident, Hunt was taken into custody after authorities responded to reports of a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction. His blood alcohol content level was recorded at .173.
In 2021, Hunt pleaded guilty to misdemeanour charges related to the 2019 arrest and underwent a sentence of 48 hours at the DUI Education Center as well as attending an alcohol safety course. Subsequently, his driving license was suspended for a year, and an interlock device was installed in his vehicle until his license was reinstated.
Hunt reflected on the incident during an interview with HITS Daily Double in 2020, expressing his willingness to address and own up to the situation openly. He emphasised the importance of moderation when consuming alcohol and highlighted his intent to avoid glorifying excessive drinking in his music.
In more recent news, Hunt and his wife Hannah, who tied the knot in 2017, announced that they are expecting their third child. The couple already shares two children, daughter Lucy Louise, aged 2½, and son Lowry Lee, aged 14 months. Hunt expressed his excitement for the new addition on Audacy’s Katie & Company podcast and hinted at taking a hiatus from touring in the near future to prioritise family time.
Despite the recent incident, Hunt seems to be focusing on his family and music career, with news of his upcoming third child bringing joy and anticipation for the singer and his fans. It remains to be seen how this incident will impact his public image and professional endeavours moving forward.
In conclusion, Sam Hunt’s ability to resolve the recent legal issue swiftly showcases his commitment to accountability and responsibility. As he looks ahead to the arrival of his third child and a potential break from touring, fans will undoubtedly continue to support him in his journey.
