English actor Harris Dickinson recently hinted at the possibility of him playing the iconic John Lennon in an upcoming Beatles biopic, expressing excitement at the prospect. The 28-year-old actor is reportedly in talks to star as Lennon in a series of four interconnected movies about the legendary band, led by director Sam Mendes.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dickinson initially evaded direct questions about the casting rumours but later commented, “I think it would be a brilliant opportunity to play John Lennon, and to work with Sam and everyone else mentioned. Yeah, I don’t know. It would be splendid.”

The four films, set to be directed by Mendes in collaboration with Sony Pictures and Neal Street Productions, will delve into the lives of each Beatles member, including Lennon, who tragically passed away in 1980 at the age of 40. The movies aim to explore the unique perspectives of Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.
While the full cast for the biopic has yet to be officially announced, speculations suggest that Dickinson will be joined by actors like Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, and either Joseph Quinn or Charlie Rowe in portraying the Beatles members. Each movie is set to release worldwide in 2027, offering a comprehensive depiction of the band’s journey.
This project marks the first time that Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles have granted rights to their life stories and music for a feature film. Mendes expressed his honour in helming the project, stating, “I’m honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies.”
The Beatles have been previously portrayed on screen in various capacities, but Mendes’ biopic series promises to offer an insightful and in-depth exploration into the band’s evolution and impact on music history. With Dickinson potentially stepping into the shoes of the legendary Lennon, fans are eager to see how the actor will bring the iconic musician to life on the big screen.
As the production of the Beatles biopic progresses, anticipation continues to build among enthusiasts of the band and cinema buffs alike. With Dickinson’s enthusiasm and talent, coupled with Mendes’ vision as a director, the biopic series is poised to deliver an engaging and memorable cinematic experience that pays tribute to the enduring legacy of The Beatles.
