Renowned filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has made a surprising announcement regarding his upcoming projects. The 61-year-old director, best known for iconic films like Pulp Fiction, has decided to put his final film on hold until his son, Leo, is older. In a recent appearance at the Sundance Film Festival, Tarantino revealed that he is prioritising his role as a father over his work in the film industry.
Tarantino shared with the audience that he has been dedicated to filmmaking for three decades but now wants to focus on raising his two young children. He expressed, “Next month my son turns 5, and I have a 2½-year-old daughter. When I’m in America, I’m writing. When I’m in Israel? I’m an abba, which means father.”
The acclaimed director further explained his decision, stating that he does not feel compelled to rush into production while his children are still too young to comprehend his work. He disclosed, “The idea of jumping on a voyage when they’re too young to understand it is not enticing to me. I kind of want to not do whatever movie I end up doing until my son is at least 6. That way, he’ll know what’s going on, he’ll be there, and it will be a memory for the rest of his life.”
Tarantino also affectionately joked about his son, Leo, revealing that the name was not inspired by actor Leonardo DiCaprio, but rather after his wife’s grandfather. He fondly referred to Leo as “our little lion.” The director’s daughter, whose name remains private, was born in July 2022 and is already showing signs of exceptional intelligence, according to her father.
In a previous interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2021, Tarantino shared a humorous anecdote about his son’s potential future language skills.
